This blog will be a Game of Thrones blog for the next few weeks. Sorry, not sorry.

*SPOILER ALERT*

This episode was a huge bummer.

Not in the sense that it wasn't a great episode, but the fact that the characters are basically preparing themselves for death. I mean, what was with them all sitting by the fire waiting to die?

Winterfell is preparing for battle. People are preparing their weapons, setting up the defense, and rationing food. The main characters don't seem to be doing any of that. They seem to just be waiting around. I guess if I was convinced I would die within the next few days, I wouldn't want to be doing the grunt work either.

Daenerys is not happy about letting Jaime Lannister into Winterfell, but Brienne's testimony seals that deal (I sure missed Brienne and Jaime together, not gonna lie). She also is furious with Tyrion, who promised that his sister (Cersei) would keep her word and send troops to Winterfell, which of course she didn't. So, Tyrion might lose his position as Hand of the Queen. While these developments have big implications, Daenerys has other things to worry about, like the fact that her boyfriend/nephew now has a larger claim to the Iron Throne than she does.

Brienne finally becoming a knight was quite the tear-jerker. And for Jaime to anoint her? It was perfect.

When Jaime approaches Bran about trying to kill him years ago, Bran is just cool with it. He basically says he won't tell anyone that Jaime paralyzed him because they need his help. Then, when Jaime wonders about his fate after the battle, Bran tells him he's bold to assume they're going to win against the Night King. Does Bran know something we don't? Does he know the dead will beat the living in the Battle of Winterfell?

No one can deny the attraction between Arya and Gendry throughout this episode, but I don't think anyone expected them to hook up right before the biggest battle of all time. I guess it goes back to the fact that everyone thinks they're going to die. Also, is it weird to be jealous of Arya even though this is all fiction?

The episode ends with the dead approaching Winterfell, meaning the next episode is when s*** will hit the fan. Hold on to the main characters you love now, because no one is guaranteed survival.
