There is no doubt that Netflix has been coming out with some unbelievably great original content in the past few years. Recently, many animated series have surfaced that have become very popular, and below are some of the best.

1) BoJack Horseman

Taken from Rotten Tomatoes:

"Will Arnett voices BoJack, the failed legendary 90's sitcom star from the favorite family sitcom Horsin' Around, who has been trying to find his way through a muddle of self-loathing, whisky and failed relationships. Now, in the presence of his human sidekick Todd (Aaron Paul) and his feline agent and ex-paramour Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris), BoJack is primed for his comeback..."

BoJack Horseman is my favorite Netflix original, so it earns the number one spot on the list. The show follows a washed-up 90s sitcom actor who has a love for himself and alcohol. Many dark and melancholic themes are hidden in the comedy, giving the show many layers. It'll make you both laugh and question literally everything in your life.

2) Disenchantment

Taken from Fandom:

"The animated fantasy series geared toward adults takes place in the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland. It follows the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo and personal demon Luci. The oddball trio encounters the likes of ogres, sprites, imps, trolls and human fools along the way."

Bean is a very likeable and strong female lead, followed by her demon and elf companions. A character like her really makes the show great, as she finds herself in many comical predicaments, yet has the attitude and resilience to power through each one. Matt Groening, Disenchantment's producer, has worked on The Simpsons as well as Futurama, so there is no surprise that after producing shows taking place in the present and future he would want to set one in the past.

3) Big Mouth

Taken from Fandom:

"Even for a cartoon character, going through puberty isn't easy for a young person. Andrew is learning that first hand as he experiences the nightmare that is growing up in this animated series geared toward adults. Along for the ride are friends Nick and Jessi, who develop a budding romance along the way. The comedy veterans who lend their voices to "Big Mouth" include John Mulaney, Nick Kroll, Maya Rudolph and Jordan Peele."

Big Mouth is a strange one, I cannot lie. The show follows young preteens experiencing puberty for the first time. It is very funny, but very graphic at times. I can imagine the only way they got away with this show was the fact that it is animated and that people will watch literally anything that includes John Mulaney (for good reason).
